Animated 'Buffy' Still Needing Greenlight?
Pilot stage isn't stopping Mutant Enemy
News of its production first slipped out in an interview for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution with Emile Posner, Alyson Hannigans mother. But now it seems, victory might not be as close as it appeared.
According to what Ain't It Cool News described as very reliable sources, "Buffy: The Animated Series" still doesnt technically have a greenlight.
So why did Posner confirm that her daughter was recording her voice for the cartoon? Well, both Fox and Mutant Enemy Productions are currently producing a "short presentation" featuring the vocal talents of former "Buffy" regulars Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Anthony Stewart Head and others, which have still to be announced.
The announcement will be made to several "extremely interested parties," in all likelihood, potential networks for broadcast.
"Buffy: The Animated Series" will deal with the slayers Sophomore year at Sunnydale High School - - only not the same years as we have previously witnessed. These adventures will cover Buffy's modified memories, which were created by the monks who were guarding The Key in the show's fifth season. Meaning, its still possible that Dawn Summers (Michelle Trachtenberg) could make an appearance.
Veteran "Buffy" writer Jane Espenson has already penned scripts for three cartoon episodes.
Please note that none of this information has been confirmed by Twentieth Century Fox or Mutant Enemy Productions, so please treat this as you would any other rumor.
