Changes Ahead For 'Smallville'

One friend goes, a love interest decides to stop by

There's changes in the air for "Smallville" next season as the no-costume superhero saga enters it fourth year.

The biggest change? Clark Kent's (Tom Welling) human confidant, Pete Ross (Sam Jones III) will not be returning as a series regular.

"The Pete character isnt coming back," Welling told E!. "He's moved out of town. He'll be making an appearance, but he won't be around as often."

Welling also hinted that Clark will have a "new love interest" next season, as well as a new super power.

The Krypton Site also has revealed that Lionel Luther, who many fans believed was not returning next season due to the character's arrest by the FBI, will in fact be returning. But what's the big news? He will not have his Branson-esque locks.

"Smallville" airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The WB.
