Hatch Joining New Battlestar Galactica?
Actor was one of reimagination's biggest critics
The new Sci-Fi Channel "Battlestar Galactica" series apparently is getting the endorsement of one of its biggest critics.
The Hollywood North has confirmed that Richard Hatch, who played Capt. Apollo in the original 1978 series, is close to signing on to the new series as a new recurring character.
Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore and Hatch are reportedly in advance negotiations, and could be making an announcement officially sometime within the next several days.
Hatch will not be playing the character of Apollo, which has been taken over by a younger Jamie Bamber. However, the character is expected to be recurring throughout the series.
Since Moore took over the Battlestar Galactica concept two years ago, Hatch has spoken out against a reimagination of the series, and apparently refused an initial offer to be in the miniseries. Hatch was instrumental a few years ago in creating a trailer that promoted the idea of a continuation, and was one of the main catalysts for the new interest in Battlestar Galactica.
