'War Of The Worlds' Coming Back
This time, Steven Spielberg will be involved
It made its first comeback in the 1950s following the scare that Orson Welles gave radio listeners back in 1938. Then it was supposed to come back in 2001, but the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks slammed that.
But now "The War of the Worlds" is going to happen ... and it's going to come courtesy of director Steven Spielberg.
And if that were not enough to get you to see yet another version of the famous H.G. Wells book. How about Tom Cruise as the star?
Having Cruise aboard the movie is not a surprise, since it was Cruise's production company that firstr started work on it the first time around. However, this time, Cruise will be working with DreamWorks and Paramount to bring the film to life. Cruise will produce the filmwith Paula Wagner, while Spielberg will direct.
The script currently is being written by David Koepp, who also did "Secret Window," which is a rework of an original script by Josh Friedman.
And will it be aliens invading Earth in the 21st century? Most like not. Reports are that the story will take place in 1890s England -- just like the book.
