Bakula Secretly Trying To Save 'Enterprise'?
Rumored meeting was without Rick Berman
One person that apparently wants to keep "Star Trek: Enterprise" on the air, and away from the cancellation bubble, appears to be Capt. Archer himself, Scott Bakula.
The popular actor, best known for his role in NBC's 1980s series "Quantum Leap," has -- according to a rumor report by Cinescape -- been meeting with Garry Hart, president of Paramount Television Productions. According to reports, Hart is in favor of keeping "Enterprise" on the air -- even if it means retooling it. According to a previously rumor by Cinescape, Hart is waiting until the end of February sweeps to decide whether to change who is leading the show -- that is, if executive producer Rick Berman will be staying on board.
According to the source, Hart and Bakula discussed the "future leadershop and direction of the show."
"As I mentioned previously, although there had been talk of replacing Mr. Berman, there was no mention of his possible replacement," the source told Cinescape. "Hart may now be working with Bakula to put a new production staff in place to save 'Enterprise.'"
The claim, while seemingly a bit strange on the surface, is not quite far-fetched. "Enterprise" has been a Bakula vehicle almost from the beginning, and the actor does apparently have some limited creative control over the series.
Please note that none of this has been confirmed with Paramount or UPN, so it should be treated as any rumor would.
