'Angel' Fans Already Organizing

Show will not be cancelled without a fight

Leave it to the fans to show up when they are needed. And they definitely are doing it for "Angel," the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spinoff that The WB announced it was going to cancel Friday night.

SupportAngel.com has already kicked off a campaign to save the show following the late-night announcement, imploring fans to use snail mail and e-mail to tell advertisers and The WB network that cancelling the show is a bad thing.

"We are letting The WB know how much we want 'Angel' to stay on the air -- sending postcards and faxes," said Kim Benton, co-webmaster of RenewAngel.com. "There are e-mails going out to The WB feedback spot. There are also several petition campaigns going on as well. The fans of 'Angel' have no intentions of keeping quiet."

The site has provided snail mail and e-mail addresses for network executives, as well as sponsors. Also, fans can find very stylish e-postcards, that have character pictures, that help in the movement and get attention.

The site began as RenewAngel.com in March 2003 after it became clear that "Angel" was on the cancellation bubble by The WB. The fans then worked hard to help the series get a renewal for the fifth season.

Also, a petition that started last year when the cancellation was threatening the series, is still going strong with more than 30,000 signatures at last count. While Airlock Alpha does not endorse online petitions, since we don't feel that they are the most effective way to campaign for a series, however, regular Airlock Alpha visitor Cari Kinz has a petition located by clicking here.
