UPN Moves 'Enterprise'

Will remain on same night, just different time

There have been rumors for weeks that UPN was looking at moving "Star Trek: Enterprise" out of its Wednesday 8 p.m. timeslot. Those rumors have ranged anywhere from Friday nights to outright cancellation.

UPN executives, however, announced that a change finally has been made, and it will move "Enterprise" to the Wednesday 9 p.m. timeslot, one hour later.

The change will take effect March 10, and will include the return of the low-rated sitcom "The Mullets," which was taken off the air in October. Also, UPN's new computer-animated series "Game Over" will air Wednesdays at 8 p.m.

The move puts "Enterprise" in a timeslot formerly held by "Star Trek: Voyager" during the heyday of NBC's "The West Wing." The NBC series still exists and is a ratings winner, but doesn't command the audience it used to.

The move also will take the show out of direct competition with The WB's "Smallville" as well as Fox's "American Idol." While "Smallville" was suffering a ratings erosion of its own, it was still beating "Enterprise" in the ratings.

With the move, "Enterprise" also will compete with "Angel" on The WB, which also has been experiencing slightly better ratings than the Star Trek show this season in a different time slot.

The 9 p.m. timeslot, once occupied by the now-cancelled "Jake 2.0," is currently being used for reruns of "America's Next Top Model." However, that series will run its course by early March.
