Movement Continuing Toward BSG Series

Despite official announcement, things are continuing

There is still no official announcement in regards to a "Battlestar Galactica" series on the Sci-Fi Channel, but sources are talking again, and it seems that such an announcement is inevitable.

With Airlock Alpha's initial rumor report that the cable channel has made a tentative go for the series (original story), Airlock Alpha has learned that much of the proposed production crew is in negotiations for series production. It is not clear who exactly is in negotiations, and if there will be a lot of carryover from the miniseries.

One Sci-Fi Channel source to Airlock Alpha not related to the negotiations or the production said that these negotiations are in line with some other online reports, including one from Galactica2003 that reported that actors' contracts -- which have a termination clause for Dec. 31 if not optioned -- had been extended to Jan. 31.

"Actors always are last to be negotiated with," the source said. "Pre-production comes first. Sci-Fi has an option for the actors, so there is little to no negotiation needed there. They'll be the last ones brought in."

Pre-production could begin by near the end of January, with actual filming talking place sometime in late February, according to other sources. Reports are that a Summer 2004 release is planned.

Any announcement on the series will not take place until the first week of January at the earliest, but an official announcement -- if negotiations with production crew is wrapped up in time -- is expected to be made Jan. 14, according to another source.

Please note that all of this information is still rumor, and has not been confirmed by the Sci-Fi Channel. Please treat it as you would any other rumor.
