Trek Creature Maker Dies
Won an Oscar for work in 'The Time Machine'
Wah Ming Chang, 86, who was a well-known animator and artist who did work for the Star Trek series, died Dec. 22 at his Carmel, Calif., home. Details of his death were not disclosed.
According to the Associated Press, Chang was an artist for more than 70 years, working on three Disney films, and also working as a costume designer and sculptor.
Some of his work included costumes for "The King and I," masks for the original "Planet of the Apes" movies, and the headdress that Elizabeth Taylor wore in "Cleopatra." He also made creatures for "The Outer Limits" and "Star Trek" series.
His best known work is for "The Time Machine," where his special effects work earned him an Oscar.
