Tribune: 'Mutant X' Copied 'X-Men'
Tribune sues Marvel for $100 million
If anyone should sue anyone, fans should be suing Tribune Entertainment for torturing us with their television productions. But that's not happening, and now Tribune wants to become $100 million richer, to make more of their "quality" shows.
Tribune, best known for disasters like "Earth: Final Conflict" and "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda," has filed a $100 million lawsuit against Marvel Enterprises over the fact that their series, "Mutant X," is a copy of "The X-Men."
According to Variety, Tribune filed the lawsuit in New York County, claiming that Marvel convinced Tribune to copy "The X-Men," which Marvel also owns the rights to. However, Marvel didn't have the right to encourage a television show similar to "X-Men" because of its agreement with 20th Century Fox, which is making the "X-Men" movies. Fox sued Tribune last year, and settled a few months ago.
"Mutant X" tortures its viewers with new episodes (and reruns) in syndication.
