While the crew of the Enterprise NX-01 might be busy with the Xindi, it looks like they're going to be a bit busy with the Andorians as well.

According to a rumor report by TrekToday, Jeffrey Combs will reprise his character of Shran in the upcoming episode tentatively called "Proving Ground." It will be the planned 13th episode of the third season, likely airing during the early part of 2004.

Shran somehow ends up in the Delphic Expanse, and decides to help the Enterprise crew in a heist: To steal a prototype of the Xindi weapon that is being built to destroy Earth. However, as is typical with Andorians, not everything is at it appears, as officers helping the Enterprise are actually sabotaging the ship. Apparently, the Andorians want the weapon for themselves, to give them a greater military advantage over the Vulcans.

But there is one wrench in that plan. Shran isn't sure he wants to betray the Enterprise, telling an Andorian general that an alliance with the humans could be beneficial.

None of this information has been confirmed by Paramount Television, so it should be treated as any other rumor would be.
