Could they be playing up the last "The Lord of the Rings" movie a little too much?

Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins) and Dominic Monaghan (Merry Brandybuck)say that "The Return of the King" will challenge all other movies as one of the strongest ever made.

"It's a full-on war movie," Wood told MTV of the film, which is being directed by Peter Jackson. "Hasn't Pete (Jackson) said he reckinds it's gonna be the most massive war movie ever shown on film? That's what Peter is saying. I mean, it's a massive boast, but I'd say it's pretty close to that."

While Wood is talking about war, Monaghan is talking about the story itself, as the final chapter of the trilogy.

"It's truly sad," he said. "It's the kind of bringing together of a lot of stories and what the fellowship has to sacrifice to essentially save Middle Earth is huge. So you see these people facing the consequences of their actions. It's just a beautiful, beautiful film."

"The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" opens in theaters Dec. 12.
