International Star Trek Gurus Sought
Fans in eight countries will compete
How much into Star Trek are you? Well, you might be able to test your trivia knowledge with everyone else on the planet as Paramount Pictures revives its Star Trek Guru contest.
In its first year last year, the international competition pitted players from Germany and the United Kingdom against each other. Winners picked up free tickets to see the premiere of "Star Trek: Nemesis" as well as won VIP visits to the Paramount lot where "Enterprise" is filmed in Los Angeles.
This year's contest has been expanded to include eight countries, however, none of them are the U.S. Beginning Aug. 1, trivia buffs in Britain, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Australia will have a chance to compete. Contestants will be faced with 200 Star Trek-related questions, and winners from each country will then compete against each other in final rounds to prove who is the overall Star Trek guru.
For more information about the contest, visit the U.K. Web site, which recently went live. It's located at www.startrekguru.com.
