Gillian Anderson Hospitalized After Fall

Doctors not sure extent of injuries

Doctors want to know if Gillian Anderson is OK after a fall in her home in London forced her to spend some time in the hospital.

Anderson, best known as Agent Dana Scully in the Fox series "The X-Files," is sharing a $2.3 million home with journalist Julian Ozanne, who followed the 34-year-old to the hospital after she took a spill down some steps.

Doctors at Cromwell Hospital in west London believe that Anderson may have suffered back and hip injuries, but they are not sure the extent of those injuries until further X-rays are done.

"She was clearly a little sedated, and must have been on heavy painkillers," one purported witness of Anderson in the hospital told the British tabloid, the Daily Mirror. "It appeared the paramedics were taking every precaution against worsening her injuries. However, as she was carried into the hospital, she did manage to smile at well-wishers. People appeared to recognize her immediately, although she was terribly modest and a little embarrassed about the accident (which occured on Sunday)."

Anderson has lived in England since "The X-Files" ended its run on Fox in 2002. She has been quiet on the screen front, last appearing in the 2000 film "The House of Mirth" as Lily Bart. She has said she would be interested in starring in another X-Files motion picture if creator Chris Carter puts one together.
