A Musical 'Lord Of The Rings'?
What will they think of next?
Several years ago, there was talk of there being a Klingon opera based on the Star Trek series, a project that never really got off the ground. But now fantasy may try to reach the musical realm again ... this time with "The Lord of the Rings."
London's West End Theater could soon become home of a musical version of "The Lord of the Rings" with film producer and Tolkien Enterprises chief Saul Zaentz as well as lyricist Shaun McKenna and composer Stephen Keeling involved in the project.
And if you think it would be cheap to bring the story to stage, it isn't. Production costs already have been budgeted at $13 million, which is pretty hefty.
The play is expected to debut in 2005.
