WB Prez Says Spike Definitely Coming
PLUS: Charisma Carpenter definitely gone
Spike may have had an untimely death (that is, if dead people can die), but that hasn't stopped one The WB executive from saying that the actor, James Marsters, will be bringing the character over to "Angel" next season, as previously announced.
"We're awaiting word from (creator Joss Whedon) on that as well," The WB Entertainment president Jordan Levin recently told Zap2it about Marsters. "(Whedon's) obviously a very creative person, and he hasn't let us down in the past. I'm sure he'll figure out a way."
That confirmation comes just days after Whedon himself said that he hadn't really heard that Marsters would be making the jump to "Angel," especially after the fate of his character on "Buffy."
Levin also confirmed that Charisma Carpenter, who originally was part of the "Buffy" cast as Cordelia, but moved over to "Angel" when the show spun off, would not be returning to "Angel" this season. Levin also said that with the departure of "Dawson's Creek," it only made sense to keep "Angel" alive and well.
"We think it was the right thing to do for Joss, the right thing to do for the fans," Levin said. "'Dawson's Creek' taught us the value of being able to provide closure to a show that's been important to the audience and to the people who worked on it, including us at the network. With 'Angel,' we felt like it would have been extraordinarily abrupt to have brought it to an end, brought the whole 'Buffy' mythology to an end."
