ENT, 'Buffy' See Finale Increases
Final overnight ratings of the season
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" ended its long life with a bang, and we're not talking about the implosion that destroyed all of Sunnydale.
The series finale earned a 4.7 rating/7 share in the Nielsen Overnight Metered Market ratings. The episode was almost an entire ratings point over the previous week's 4.0/6. And yes, "Buffy" did beat an NBC show for the hour, beating out "Outrageous Gameshow Moments." "American Idol" won the hour on Fox with a 14.8/24.
"Enterprise," whose season finale received some hype (but nowhere near the hype that "Buffy" did) finished its Wednesday showing with a 4.4/7, beating out The WB movie "I Know What You Did Last Summer." That was a slight increase over the double-bill "Enterprise" got last week with "First Flight" (4.2/6) and "Bounty" (4.3/6).
"Enterprise" was beat by "American Idol," which scored a 16.9/27.
For Tuesday night, UPN finished last with a 3.8/5, far behind The WB's 6.1/9 that had that channel finish in fourth place. Fox won the night with an 11.9/18.
And on Wednesday, UPN smashed The WB with a 3.3/5. Fox was once again the big winner with an 18.6/28.
