Tank Sues Matrix Sequels
Said he received promises that he'd be cast
Confused by the line in "The Matrix: Reloaded" that Tank had died as well as Dozer in the first film? Well, it not only confused Marcus Chong who played Tank, but forced him to take his issue with that line to court.
Chong is suing Warner Bros. and AOL Time Warner as well as the producers of "Reloaded" and "The Matrix: Revolutions" for breaching a 1998 oral agreement as well as a 2000 contract that would have brought Tank back for the two sequels. Chong said that the filmmakers accused him of being a "terrorist," and worked to blackball him in the film industry after a strange contract dispute following the success of the first film.
Apparently, in October 2000, Chong was arrested for allegedly making threats five days after his salary negotiations with Warner Bros. stopped. According to source reports, Chong made multiple harassing phone calls to the "Matrix" filmmakers after they failed to meet his salary demands. Soon after, the writers decided to take Tank out and replace him with Link, played by Harold Perrineau Jr. of "Romeo + Juliet" fame.
Warner Bros. as well as Andy and Larry Wachowski -- who wrote and directed the films -- declined to comment.
