TNN To Make Trek Interactive
Should make Trek a little more ... competitive?
TNN is trying a new approach to its broadcast of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." It's making it interactive.
Beginning March 31, TNN will launch "iTrek Live."
The new interactive Trek utilizes GoldPocket Interactive's EventMatrix technology, which allows at-home viewers to "play along" with the television program they are watching in real time, and compete against each other on their set-top boxes and Internet-connected computers.
TNN will offer a month of continuous iTV programming.
The new programming will be available every week night betweem March 31 and April 25. Viewers will be able to test their knowledge of that evening's episode, competing against each other for the top spot on a live leader board. Answers to some trivia questions will be provided in teh content of the broadcast, while others will require a broader knowledge of the series, according to a release from Viacom-owned TNN.
To participate, viewers tune their iTV-capable set-top boxes to TNN, or long on their computers to www.TheNewTNN.com. Viewers also will be able to express their opinions in online polls, chat with other viewes about the show, and even create their own chatrooms.
