Smallville Continues Superiority
'Buffy' remains stable in overnight ratings
It looks like it's going to be another strong year for The WB series "Smallville," especially after it has posted yet another strong showing in the Neilsen Overnight Metered Market Ratings.
Tuesday's episode pulled in a 6.6 rating/10 share in the 9 p.m. hour putting it ahead of Major League Baseball playoffs on Fox and the UPN series "Haunted" (2.4/4). It was beat by "The Guardian" on CBS (9.5/15), "Frasier" (9.6/15) and "Hidden Hills" (7.6/12) on NBC, "Life With Bonnie" (7.2/11) and "Less Than Perfect" (7.1/11) on ABC.
The ratings for "Smallville" actually is an increase over the previous week's ratings, where it scored a 6.3/9 in the overnights. Other genre shows have seen drops or plateaus since their season premieres.
Speaking of plateaus, that's exactly what "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is doing on UPN, pulling in a 4.0/6 in the overnights, matching its performance in the previous week. It finished last in its time slot, being beat out by "JAG" on CBS (9.8/16), "8 Simple Rules" (8.6/14)and "According to Jim" (7.9/12), "In-Laws" on NBC (6.7/11)and "Gilmore Girls" on The WB (5.7/9).
