'Enterprise' Takes Slight Dip

Overnight ratings show little drop off from season opener

It wasn't a very strong episode, but somehow, the "Enterprise" episode "Carbon Creek" drew close to the number of viewers it drew in the previous week for the show's second season premiere, finishing respectable in the Nielsen Overnight Metered Market ratings.

"Enterprise" grabbed a 4.8 rating/7 share for the 8 p.m. hour Wednesday night, a slight drop from the 4.9/8 it earned the previous week. It didn't beat out much, however, just the broadcast of the Wesley Snipes movie "Blade" on The WB, which scored only a 2.8/4.

Beating "Enterprise" was "My Wife and Kids" on ABC (10.0/15), "Ed" on NBC (8.1/12) and "60 Minutes II" (8.1/12). "Bernie Mac" on Fox finished in fourth place for the hour with a 6.5/10.

"The Twilight Zone," with only its second episode, took a beating in the ratings losing 22 percent of its audience from its series premiere last week to finish with a 3.6/5. Despite those numbers, the show still carried 75 percent of the "Enterprise" audience.

"Twilight Zone" beat out only the second part of The WB movie "Blade."

"The West Wing" on NBC took that hour (and the next hour as well) with a 14.0/21 followed by "Big Brother 3" on CBS (7.7/11), "The Bachelor" on ABC(6.5/9) and "Fastlane" on Fox (5.6/8).

For the night, UPN finished fifth with a 4.2/6, beating The WB's 3.1/5. The overall winners of the night were NBC (12.1/18), ABC (7.5/11), CBS (7.4/11) and Fox (6.0/9).
